Tuition Information and Procedures, 2010-2011

Biloxi Public Schools accepts tuition students on an individual basis subject to district policy JBCD and approval by the School Board.  Consideration is given to those students who have an excellent attendance record, good grades, and an outstanding disciplinary history.

Below you will find listed the documents needed to apply for tuition status in the Biloxi School District.  Please note that no tuition packet will be processed until all documents in the tuition packet are returned to the office of Student Services. Please return the documents together as a packet; tuition packets will not be processed until all documents are completed and payment for the first semester has been made.

To ensure that your child is approved for enrollment in Biloxi Public Schools as a tuition student, the tuition packet should be returned to the office of Student Services no later than July 13, for action by the Board at the regularly scheduled July Board meeting.  (Tuition approval at the August Board meeting may result in the student missing the first few weeks of school since school starts before the regularly scheduled Board meeting.)

Please note that there are two tuition scales based on whether or not you reside in the Biloxi city limits but outside the Biloxi Public School district (commonly referred to as the "annexed area", i.e., Eagle Point or Woolmarket, including Wells Ferry subdivision) or outside the city limits.

For students whose parents/guardians reside inside the annexed area:
The tuition charge, per student, is $500.00 per year.
Payment schedule is as follows: $250 prior to enrollment; $125 by October 1; $125 by December 1.

For students whose parents/guardians reside outside the annexed area, i.e., outside the city limits:
The tuition charge, per student, is $1,200.00 per year.
Payment schedule is as follows: $600 prior to enrollment; $300 by October 1; $300 by December 1.

The tuition fee, on a semester basis, is only refundable if the student has not begun the semester.  For example, a student whose tuition is paid in full but withdraws prior to the beginning of the second semester and does not attend a single day in the second semester will receive a refund of half the tuition upon request by the parent/guardian.

All Biloxi schools accept tuition students.  Please note, as per policy JBCD, the school district will not accept out-of-district students who cause the district an additional outlay of funds beyond that which is typical for all tuition students, require services or programs that the Biloxi Public School district does not have, cause the expansion of a program that would require additional expenditures, or cause the district an additional financial or administrative burden.

  1. Tuition Student Application

  2. Most recent report card

  3. Tuition Student Behavior Statement, even if a returning student

  4. Zone Exception Request Form

  5. Student Release Form from your "home" school district

Note - Tuition status is for one school year only. This process must be completed each year for your child to remain a tuition student in the Biloxi School District.

The School Board meets the third Tuesday of each month.  In order to meet Board deadlines, all paperwork must be in Dr. Spink's office no later than one week prior to the Board meeting.

Questions concerning tuition should be directed to the Student Service office, 228-374-1810, extension 125, or aimee.brown@biloxischools.net.
