Registration for Biloxi Public Schools is on Monday and Tuesday, and parents of children entering kindergarten also need to plan to attend one of the Kindergarten Discovery Days, which will be Aug. 6, 7, or 8.
Parents will be advised of which day they need to attend when they register their prospective kindergartener on July 23 or 24.
Participation in the Kindergarten Discovery Days program is a requirement for parents of students entering Kindergarten in the 2012-2013 school year.
Parents must accompany their child to one of Kindergarten Discovery Days to meet their teacher and a small group of their classmates.
The program is designed to help kindergarten students become familiar with the school in small groups and allow parents to meet the teachers and receive important information to get the school year off to a good start.
Parents’ portion of the Kindergarten Discovery Days will end by 9:30 a.m.
The first full day of Kindergarten class is Aug. 9.
Biloxi Public Schools, which had an enrollment of about 5,100 students last year, had 460 kindergarteners each year.
