Biloxi High seniors, who hold graduation exercises Sunday afternoon at 2 at the Coast Coliseum, have received more than 320 scholarships this year totaling about $3 million.
“This is a tremendous credit to our students, our teachers, and the parents who help keep students on track,” said Dr. Paul A. Tisdale, superintendent of Biloxi Public Schools. “And, I’m happy to say, these scholarships continue a tradition in Biloxi Public Schools.”
In fact, in the past 13 years, Biloxi graduates have received more than $34 million in scholarships, according to Annette Matherne, Career Center, Biloxi High School.
“That figure,” Matherne said, “should actually be larger because there are many scholarships that are not announced before school ends, and there are also scholarships the students fail to report."
Matherne said students over the years have received a large number of Presidential, Centennial, Academic, Athletic and Leadership scholarships, as well as national scholarships.
