The stadium at Biloxi High School will be the main site for teams from seven nations participating in the 2009 CISM International Women's Soccer Championship, which takes place June 6 through June 13 and is hosted by Keesler Air Force Base.
Among the teams scheduled to play are Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Republic of South Korea and the United States.
"This event will shine an international spotlight on Keesler, Biloxi Public Schools, and the Gulf Coast," said Dr. Paul A. Tisdale, superintendent of Biloxi Public Schools. "We’re proud that we’re able to show off the excellent facilities that we have, and we’re honored that Keesler looked to us as its primary site."
Women's Soccer Championship games will be played at the Biloxi Indian Stadium and the Gulfport Sportsplex beginning June 6 and continue through June 13.
The International Military Sports Council, known by its acronym "CISM", is an international sports association composed of the armed forces of member nations accepted by the General Assembly. CISM is open to the armed forces of all nations.
