Biloxi students to face exams this week
10/5/2009

Term exams, sometimes referred to as "common term assessements," will take place Wednesday and Thursday in Grades 2 through 12 in Biloxi Public Schools.

Parents are advised to make sure that their children arrive at school on time, that children get proper rest and have a balanced breakfast before testing; and that children are encouraged to do their best.

Students, incidentally, will not be in class Friday because of a staff professional development day, and students and staff will not be in school Monday in observance of Columbus Day.

In other news, the Drama Department hosted a sold-out student talent showcase, known as "Biloxi's Got Talent," last week.

The show consisted of 14 acts and had various types of talent displayed.

Students sang, played guitars, played the piano, danced and one even demonstrated his talent of rifle spinning. There were different genres of music from Broadway to Hip-Hop.

Said Sean Harding, one of Ms. Norris' students speaking at the end of the show: "Ladies and gentlemen, Biloxi's definitely got talent."

Victorious volleyball team to play Tuesday night

Here's a report from Biloxi Athletic Director Tom Gladney on the Biloxi High school girls volleyball team:

The Biloxi Lady Indians got off to a slow start Saturday afternoon as Oak Grove won the first volleyball game 25-21, but the Lady Indians rebounded to win the next three games - 25-21, 25-18, and 25-21.

The win moves the Lady Indians to 18-1 on the year, and they will now advance to the second round of the Class III volleyball playoffs, hosting Hancock at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Biloxi High School. The winner of this match will advance to the volleyball state tournament at Mississippi College on Saturday, Oct. 10.

All Indian fans need to come out Tuesday night to support the Lady Indians and cheer them on to the state tournament!
