Successful Weekend for Biloxi Robotics!
Three different Biloxi Robotics programs competed this weekend and they all brought home hardware! Congratulations to these students and their sponsors - so many hours of hard work goes into their success...great job Indian Nation!
At the elementary level, Jeff Davis and Popp's Ferry competed in the Annual Robotics Tournament at MGCCC with teams from all along the Coast. The Jeff Davis Robobraves were Tournament Champs! The winning driver was Savanna Dessino and Captain was Michael Dowdle. The Popp's Ferry Predators won 2 Tournament Finalist trophies (2nd place)! Drivers Jamie Useforge and Nate Ethridge scored the second place finalist win for the PF Predators! The Predators also picked up the Team Spirit awards as well!!
The BJHS teams battled it out at the Lego League regionals at St. Patrick. High School. The veteran team, the Arrowheads, competed with other veteran teams in the Schooner Regionals. This was the first competition for our new team, Indian Nation, so they were up against other brand new teams in the Lighthouse Regionals. Both teams qualified to proceed to the State Championships on Saturday, February 25, in Vicksburg! At this competition, all teams will compete against one another for State standings.
Of the 4 competition areas: Project, Robot Design, Robot Game, and Core Values, each of our BJHS teams earned a 1st place trophy for Core Values which encompasses:
- Inspiration - a team that is empowered by their FIRST LEGO League experience and displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit.
- Teamwork - a team that is able to accomplish more together than they could as individuals through shared goals, strong communication, effective problem solving and excellent time management.
- Gracious Professionalism® - a team whose members show each other and other teams respect at all times. They recognize that both friendly competition and mutual gain are possible, on and off the playing field.
WAY TO GO ROBOTICS!!
